Figure 1. Counties left empty have no lawyer establishments at all, so the ratio is undefined rather than large. This is a market map, not a merit map, establishment counts do not distinguish a medical malpractice practice from a solo doing closings, and nothing here suggests where claims exist.

California counties where births most outrun local legal establishment density. A media-planning input, and nothing more than that.

Riverside is the gap with volume behind it

Riverside County recorded 27,265 births in 2024 against 546 lawyer offices, which is 49.9 births per office against a national median of 34.3. San Diego recorded 35,738 births against 2,536 offices, 14.1 per office. Similar volume to Riverside, 3.5 times the lawyers per birth.

Two more California counties clear the same bar with real volume: San Bernardino at 58.0 on 25,478 births, and Kern at 58.1 on 10,582 births.

The 3 counties carrying the volume

Merced, San Joaquin and Stanislaus recorded 18,758 births between them in 2024, against 309 lawyer offices. That is 60.7 births per office across those 3 California counties, where the national median for counties with 500 or more births is 34.3.

Los Angeles runs 11.1 births per lawyer office. The 3 counties above run 60.7. All 3 clear the median on their own, and they sit inside a 95.8 kilometre span, which makes them one California market rather than 3 separate ones.

Clinical measures and legal measures are never joined on this site. Adverse-event rates describe medicine; litigation describes a legal process. Where both appear together it is to describe a market, not to suggest that one predicts the other.
