The editorial process, published

Figure 1: two checks kill pieces, and both are cheap to apply. Step 2 is asked before any research is done, which is what stops a week being spent on a page that should not exist.

**The brief template.** Every article starts as these seven lines, and a brief that cannot be completed is not written.
Field	What goes in it
Target query	The actual thing someone types or asks
Audience	Named, specific. "Firm owners" is not an audience.
The claim	One sentence. If it takes two, it is two articles or none.
What this does that the current #1 does not	A specific dimension. No answer here means the piece is killed at this line.
Primary sources	Listed before drafting. If they do not exist, the claim does not get made.
Graphics	Four or more, each carrying information the prose does not
Review required	Medical, legal, both, or neither, and the piece cannot publish without whichever it names

**Cadence policy.** Published because the alternative is a quota, and a quota is how standards decay.
Question	Answer
How many articles a week?	However many clear the standard. Some weeks that is zero.
Is there a publishing calendar?	No. There is a brief queue, and briefs graduate when they are ready.
What happens to a brief that stalls?	It stays in the queue or is killed. It does not get published thin to clear the queue.
Do you update old articles?	Yes, and the review date changes only when something actually changed. Automatic date bumping is a trust liability.
What if a published article turns out to be wrong?	It is corrected and logged in the corrections log with the date it was reported.

**What each article does that the current best result does not.** This column is the test every brief has to clear before research begins.
